The Big Harbour Cleanup – Poole

Salterns Marina is delighted to support GoPladdle with the “Big Harbour CleanUp“.

GoPladdle was founded along the south coast UK and is led by enthusiastic volunteers with a mission to unite communities and clean up our oceans and beaches. The organisation is based on the idea of litter picking whilst kayaking.

Salterns Marina are thrilled to be lending GoPladdle a Torqeedo Electric Outboard Engine to power “Polly”.

In contrast to combustion engines, Torqeedo drives do not discharge any exhaust or oil into the water and there is no water contamination as a result of refuelling. This will assist GoPladdle in their mission to clean Poole Harbour much quicker while keeping the carbon footprint to an absolute minimum.

GoPladdle founders, Jake and Rosie, said:

“We would like to say a massive thank you to Nick Smith and the team at Salterns Marina, Golden Arrow Marine, and to Torqeedo for lending us this amazing piece of machinery! The Torqeedo Travel is an electric outboard that can also be charged via solar! You can’t get much more eco friendly than that! The guys at Torqeedo have really created something incredible! We feel so lucky to be receiving the level of support that we are and couldn’t do it as successfully without the assistance of such amazing people. Thank you!”

Through communities becoming increasingly aware of the importance of looking after our environment and groups such as GoPladdle tackling the issues of waste and preventative measures, we are heading in the right direction to protect our environment and oceans.
