Servicing, parts & repairs

Situated in the heart of the Marina, our fully serviced Boatyard and repair facility has a wide range of skilled staff and qualified factory trained marine engineers. We also have a network of technical advisors and specialists to hand when needed. With the capability to take on minor running repairs through to major refits, we have been providing comprehensive and expert maintenance services and repair work for over 40 years. Any Volvo Penta parts come with a 12-month warranty and annual marina berth holders also receive a special discount on all parts and labour too.

Anti-fouling and Anodes

One of the most important maintenance considerations for any boat or yacht is the Anti-fouling and the checking and replacement of the anodes.

If the antifoul is not renewed annually then marine algae can build up can slow your boat down, making it less fuel efficient and can mean more expense is required in the long term. All forms of anti-fouling can be undertaken by our professional boatyard team and free quotations are available on request.

The anodes on a boat are integral to the protection of the hull and must be inspected annually to ensure that they are in good condition. We can replace all sizes and types of anodes and this check is normally done while the boat is out of the water to be antifouled.

All services are competitively priced and there’s further discounts for all Marina Members.

Gel Work and Shipwright Services

Our team of experts can undertake all manor of gel repairs and our resident shipwright Jonathan Butler has significant marine and joinery experience specialising in traditional restoration, repairs and new builds.

Our boatyard team can ensure your boat is in tip top condition and ready for spring.

Commercial and leisure

We’re delighted to welcome both commercial and leisure marine customers and regularly provide services to many of the harbour’s passenger vessels and fishermen. Owners and their crews may carry our maintenance work at the boatyard or book in our experienced team. Warranty work undertaken by specialised contractors is also permitted free of charge. The Boatyard also provides comprehensive waste disposal facilities which includes hazardous waste.

Valeting

Salterns Marina provide a vast range of exceptional marine valeting services. Our dedicated valet team can provide regular scheduled valets or bespoke one-off services to ensure your boat is gleaming ready for the season ahead. Every boat on the water is exposed to the elements day in and day out. Sun, salt water, and wind all take their toll on the exterior of your vessel. Even though these are durable surfaces, they must be properly cared for and maintained regularly. This is where boat valeting comes in.

Valeting services include: complete exterior and cockpit deep clean including fridges, hand polish to protect gelcoat from the elements, stainless steel polish, dehumidifier fitted to any cabin boats, bar heaters in engine bays and cabins and upgrades including teak deck, gelcoat repairs and covers, plus many more.

All services are competitively priced and very convenient for Berth Holders who also receive member discounts.

Lifting and hoists

Our boatyard 45-tonne travel hoist has the ability to lift up to 20m LOA. Rates are very competitive, and services are available Monday to Friday. In addition, over the weekends our marina hoist can lift small boats up to 7m LOA. So, whenever you need your boat lifted give our Boatyard team a call.

This is a great convenience for our berth holders and is hugely popular with other harbour users when the seasonal swinging moorings close for winter.

Winter Storage Ashore facilities

During the winter months the Boatyard provides hard standing areas for vessels up to 20.0m LOA to be stored. This long-term storage ashore is available within the Boatyard and Marina car parks where water and dedicated electricity points are widely available around the site. The Marina team are also on hand around the clock to assist with any member requirements or queries.
