Berth Holder and Customer Safety

We want to ensure that your visit to our Marina is both enjoyable and safe. Please take a moment to review the following safety information:

 

  1. Life Jackets:

– Ensure that all individuals, especially children and non-swimmers, wear a properly fitted life jacket when near the water or aboard boats.

– Life jackets should be worn at all times when on board a vessel and when participating in water activities.

  1. Slips, Trips, and Falls:

– Watch your step when walking on the pontoons, and other surfaces in the marina. Surfaces may be slippery, especially when wet.

– Use handrails and designated pathways to navigate around the marina safely

  1. Weather Awareness:

– Be mindful of weather conditions and forecasts. Sudden changes in weather, such as strong winds or storms, can pose risks to boaters and marina guests.

– Seek shelter indoors during inclement weather and avoid being near the water during lightning storms.

  1. Fuelling Safety:

– Exercise caution when fuelling boats. Follow instructions provided at fuel docks and be mindful of fuel spillage and vapours.

– Re-fuelling at the Versa Docks is prohibited.

– Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited in fuelling areas.

  1. Water Safety:

– Do not dive or jump off the breakwaters, pontoons, or boats. Water depths may vary, and submerged hazards may be present.

– Keep a close eye on children and non-swimmers near the water. Never leave them unattended.

  1. Security Awareness:

– Report any suspicious activity or unauthorised individuals to marina staff or security personnel immediately.

– Secure personal belongings and valuables to prevent theft or loss.

  1. Emergency Procedures:

– Familiarise yourself with the location of emergency equipment, including life rings, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.

– In case of emergency, dial Salterns reception number on 01202 709 971 or 999 for assistance and follow instructions from marina staff or emergency responders.

  1. Boat Yard Safety:

– Exercise caution when walking through the boat yard, this is a working boat yard with working machinery. Be mindful of equipment and moving boats, please observe the designated walkways.

– Observe all posted signs and instructions for your safety.

  1. Environmental Awareness:

– Help us protect the marine environment by disposing of rubbish and recyclables in designated bins.

– Avoid dumping hazardous materials, such as oil, fuel, or chemicals, into the water or on the ground, please speak to a member of the salterns team.

  1. Boating Regulations:

– Familiarise yourself with local boating regulations and adhere to speed limits, navigation rules, and safety requirements while on the water.

– Respect wildlife and marine habitats by observing no-wake zones and avoiding sensitive areas.
