Meet your Marina team

Robert, Goldie, Golden
Goldie joined the Marina 7 years ago and has worked across both the Bosun and Boatyard teams. As our Chief Bosun and after a distinguished career in the Royal Marines our Berth Holders really are in very safe hands with Goldie and his team at the helm.

George Rawes
George is a highly experienced, long standing member of the Marina Bosun team and former Royal Marine. You’ll often hear his soulful voice singing out around the marina. Well known amongst the berth holders, George is our weekend bosun and always on hand with handy words of advice. Don’t forget to say Hi when you see him next.

Beth Anderson
Beth has worked on the Marina reception during her university holidays for the last two seasons. Having now obtained a BSC honours 2:1 in Genetics we are delighted Beth has been able to become a full-time member of the marina reception team.

Leah Marie White
Leah joined the Marina nearly 3 years ago and is a valuable part of the Marina reception team. Leah grew up in the local area and loves nothing more than going boating with her partner across to Studland and the Purbecks to walk her dogs.

David Nunn
David has been our Chandlery manager for 7 years and has the busy task of ensuring all the essentials and boating equipment you need are fully stocked each week. He also runs the Fuel Pontoon as well as overseeing the Coffee Corner. If you even need any advice on lifejackets, lines, fenders or other marine hardware, then David is your best port of call.

Phil Dawson
Phil has worked at the marina for over 18 years and is a valuable source of knowledge for the bosun team. More at home on the water than on land, Phil is an experienced fisherman, and he may even give away the odd tip to our berth holders if asked nicely.

John Elysee
John has worked within the marina for over 30 years. He currently heads up our marina maintenance team.

Mark Howell
Mark has been a key part of the Salterns team for over 15 years and has worked in many of our key business areas including the Southampton Golden Arrow Marine branch. Currently managing our Boatyard team it’s often Mark you’ll speak to for maintenance and engineering advice and booking in your boat for your winter and spring preparations, lift outs and re-launches.

Jason Coombes
Since joining Salterns Marina in 2017, Jason has been our Boatyard Foreman and is a great asset to the company. With many years of experience working in boatyards on the South Coast, Jason is perfectly placed to lead his team of operators, providing a high class of work to many different types of boating craft.

Salterns Group
Based at Salterns Marina you’ll also find other team members across the Group from Finance & accounts, IT, Marketing, Salterns Brokerage, Offshore Performance and Golden Arrow Marine.

Paul Smith
Paul is a member of our Bosun team and has been with the Marina for 3 years. Being an experienced spearfisherman for many years, his local knowledge of the Harbour and surrounding waters is second to none. He also captures many of our amazing winter sunset photos.

Lucy Etches
Lucy joined the Marina team nearly 2 years ago after nearly 20 years in the marine industry with both Sunseeker London and superyacht brokerage, Dbeere Yachts. With a strong passion for watersports Lucy is not only brilliant at keeping the Marina organised but can often be found exploring the Harbour on her Paddleboard.

Nick Smith
Nick is our Managing Director and heads up this family business which, along with his father and Chairman John Smith, has seen the growth and development of not only Salterns Marina but our other business areas at Offshore Performance, Salterns Brokerage and Golden Arrow Marine. A huge family man Nick cannot wait to start showing his young son more of the behind-the-scenes action as he grows older.

John Smith
John is the Chairman of the whole of the Salterns Group and has seen the business grow since his father purchased the Marina in the 1970s. The Poole Harbour Yacht Club was expanded into the luxury Marina you see today, and John is extremely proud to be one of the few last family run Marinas in the whole of the UK.
