Site Development

We are a progressive family business that has the future of this area always on our mind. We want to enhance and build on our fascinating heritage by creating a Marina with luxury facilities not only for future boating generations but our UK and international tourism visitors.

Bournemouth and Sandbanks is one of the top UK holiday destinations and our prime position at the Harbours entrance, enviable views over Brownsea Island and proximity to Sandbanks peninsula means we are committed to the growth and development of the Salterns Site.

In 2016 an ambitious planning application was granted to rebuild a stunning new Hotel with spa and restaurant facilities and new accommodation and retail spaces for our tenants at the Quay edge.

You can read more information in our Frequently Asked Questions below.

When did work begin?
We started works in January 2021 and the first improvements were completed at the Entrance of the Marina in July  2021.
Why has the hotel been removed?
The hotel building had come to the end of it’s structurally safe and practical use. The various extensions and improvements over the years were no longer fit for purpose.
Where has the BOAC plaque be relocated?

The Blue plaque has been safely relocated to the front of The Deck at Salterns.  This summer Alfresco Bar & Kitchen is brought to you by the same team who previously managed the Salterns Harbourside Hotel.  We are very proud of the part the Salterns site played in WW2 and the flying boat missions and is something we will want to celebrate for future generations.
